It’s festival fever all over Ireland at the moment with Oxegen, Longitude, Indiependence and Electric Picnic all gearing up with huge acts set to wow huge audiences. However, if you’re looking for something completely different, The Secret Garden Festival in Kildare may be just the ticket for you. It’d be easy to forget about the smaller and non mainstream festival so I’ve decided to give this one a bit of love.
The festival itself seems to be so secret that I’ve not even heard about it before now, despite this being the third year of its existence.
Martinstown House in Co. Kildare plays host to the festival which boasts three days (16th-18th August) of campfire stories, music, tons of activities and cookies!
Musical acts include Chas Palmer Williams, Emma O’ Reilly and The FitzaFrenic who, incidentally were featured in The Earworm’s single of the week recently.
Along with music, there will also be spoken word from the likes of Catherine Brophy, Colm Keegan and Graham Tugwell.
Festival goers are also invited to take part in a waterfight and, let’s face it, if the glorious weather keeps up, this may be the ideal way to cool down.
The festival also boasts an ‘after dark’ section for those festival goers looking for a bit of a late night dance or other entertainment into the wee hours.
Early bird tickets for the festival are going for a steal at €30 camping and can be obtained from entertainment.ie.
Regular priced tickets are €38 for those that miss out on the early bird opportunity.
